'Gardens in the Sky' Schools project
Free food-growing and composting classes for schools
Croydon Council is offering a limited number of FREE classes and tours of ‘Croydon’s Garden in the Sky’ as part of the Eco-Exp taking place between Monday 20th – Friday 24th October.
Croydon’s Garden in the Sky’ is being installed in the unique location of on top of the multi-storey car-park in Surrey Street Car park, Croydon town-centre. Click here for a map.
In a fun and practical way, children will learn about simple ways to grow food and composting. As part of the class the children will be given the opportunity to plant a seed themselves which they can take-away with them in a small pot to watch it grow at home or at school.
Organic gardener, Paul Richens of Blue Dome Synergies will be teaching the classes, accompanied by an assistant. For more information about Paul’s work with schools, please read this pdf.
The aim of Croydon’s Garden in the Sky is to demonstrate organic food growing and ‘green-roofing’ opportunities and create a visually pleasant green oasis in a dense urban setting.
